J.S. Bach’s Erbarme Dich - Michael Chance

Erbarme dich, mein Gott (Have mercy, Lord, My God, for the sake of my tears) is a haunting alto aria from J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion. Within this musical masterpiece lies a profound narrative depicting Peter's anguish and remorse in the garden following his multiple denials of Jesus. This rendition, skillfully interpreted by the English countertenor Michael Chance, was performed in Zamora, Mexico, during the 2012 edition of the Ars Vocalis México festival, an event that I had the honor of establishing and overseeing.
