Tu Es Sacerdos

Recently, I had the privilege of conversing with Cardinal Alberto Suárez Inda, Archbishop Emeritus of Morelia. The meeting also included Fr. Jesús Alcázar Fuentes, beloved pastor at the Parish of the Holy Trinity, a friend and paisano. During this audience, I presented a copy of the score of Tu Es Sacerdos to the cardinal, a composition I crafted for the celebration of Cardinal Suárez Inda's 50th anniversary of priestly ordination.

Why did I compose this work? This setting of Tu Es Sacerdos was composed at the request of Emilio Medina, a choral conductor and friend of mine, to honor the cardinal. The premiere took place on August 8, 2014, during the liturgy celebration at the archdiocesan seminary. Surprisingly, the composition gained global recognition, being utilized in various significant events such as pastor installations in Italy, ordinations in Austria, Argentina, Brazil, France, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, and the United States, among other countries.

I am humbled by the opportunity to contribute to the exaltation of God through music.
